Sarah Jaffee, a New Jersey native, began her career in North Carolina. Shortly after graduating from Western Carolina, she moved to Asheville and started working as a runner and artist liaison at The Orange Peel. It was there, from 2012 to 2015, that she trained under the guidance of the house lighting designer to develop her skills as a lighting technician.
In the fall of 2015 she landed her first tour as the Assistant Tour Manager for Matisyahu. A few months into the album cycle they began carrying a substantial lighting package and she instinctively jumped in as L2.
After moving to Brooklyn in fall of 2016, she landed a job as one of the lighting designers at the iconic Bowery Ballroom in NYC. In March of 2018, she packed her bags for Nashville, and by April, she had joined Pulse as the Lighting Director for John Prine. In 2019, she took on the role of Lighting Director for Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.
Sarah’s primary objective as an LD is to create environments in which the artist feels empowered, where they feel the design is a visual expression of, and enhancement to, the magic they make on stage.
